Nassem N. Naimi Help me guys
What would cause Anemia in a 3 months old puppy without any sign on without any change in WBC differential (WBC count was on the low normal Limit).
Would a heart abnormality cause this??

Failure to produce/replace dying RBCs, or massive loss of RBCs (haemorrhage including "third space" loss, automimmune destruction etc.)

Go through multi-systemic history - e.g. melaena would be a useful sign.

Full haematology including smear examination, reticulocyte count etc. Biochemistry too - depending on degree of anaemia, visceral issues can be implicated. If you draw a blank everywhere else, some cases need bone marrow evaluation.

    • Sushil Kumar Paudel if no worms, and no any suspected internal bleeding, then we can suspect autoimmune haemolysis, increase in billirubin level is commonly encountered in case of autoimmune haemolysis. We can see saline Agglutination test for that!
