Blood draning from the bite area is not good at all it wil lincrease blood flow to the area which will fasten venom movement.
Antivenom is good also keep observing respiration as it is the main cause of death paralysis will disappear soon max in 72 hour (I guess)

    • Sreekumar Chirukandoth Where is the dog from, rural area or from the metropolis? How are you sure it is a snake bite wound? Neurotoxins act on hypothalamus and cause respiratory paralysis and DO NOT cause paralytic stroke.

    • Saurabh Saxena dog was from rural area only.my snake bite knw is very limited as it was first experience for me .pls shed more light on the topic and also ways to treat the pet especially if anti snake venom is not available.thanks

If antisnake Venom is not Available then you should go to supportive
you said now it is neurotoxin but snakes may have multiple venoms sametime
so make sure that this is the whole issue.
In human Medicine if they got a neurotoxin they will put the patient on respiratory support as the only thing to be scared about is Respiratory muscle paralysis :).
fluid therapy is indicated by some Vet's but not alll, I am not sure but maybe Lazix may be useful (hypothetically) as you increase the excretion by urine!

This is what the merck's manual says:
Venomous snakes fall into 2 classes: 1) the elapines, which include the cobra, mamba, and coral snakes; and 2) the 2 families of viperines, the true vipers and the pit vipers.
The venom of elapines is ne...See more

    • Philip Paul Mshelbwala It involves controlling shock, neutralizing the venom, controlling intravascular coagulation, minimizing tissue death, and preventing any secondary infection. Therefore, veterinarians may need to use antivenin, antiinflammatory drugs, antibiotics, fluid therapy

‎1) Tourniquet for the highest joint (shoulder or hip) to control venom spread.
      2) try to know the snake type and the venom effect, if hemolytic then fluid therapy and blood transfusion if anticoagulant then you then use Vitamin K and Vasoco...See more

Snake bite in animals is an enigma. Quite simply, 'street smart' animals (cats, street dogs etc.) almost never get bitten. Exceptions are there...especially dogs (toy breeds and 'lap'dogs). In my opinion, many cases are just hunches, as the...See more

Hemotoxic venom is always suspected which will cause loose of blood. as causes of death in snake bites are excessive blood loose or/and paralysis or respiratory muscle/ DIC caused by coagulation venom.

blood transfusion will dilute the venom...See more

I beg to differ...hameotoxin causes clotting disorders including DIC (as u have rightly mentioned) and not blood loss. This causes death, rather than blood loss. Oligaemia is rarely a cause of death in snake bites.Transfusion can never dilut...See more

It is best, if we identify the of snake(Viper/cobra/etc). then we should go for an aggressive treatment schedule.
if we identified the snake we can go for a specific antivenam
      if not

      08 June at 17:39 ·
    • Mahalingam Muralithas yes. with the antihistamine, the antivenam must give very fast IV
      08 June at 20:32 ·
    • Sreekumar Chirukandoth Mahalingam....the standard procedure is to give the antivenin as a 'slow' infusion. It is not advisable to administer a protein (especially immunoglobulin) rapidly. Shock and death simply due to antivenin have been reported.
