It is hard to support the femur in a Calf. and this area will be always a weak point in this calf, I suggest that you put this calf in a small encloser to restrict it's movement, Castrate him if possible. This calf wont be available for breeding as he needs to carry lots of weight on this weak area.
So this Calf going to be a beef calf.
I hope someone can help you more! but it is hard!
especially if it is a farm surgical repair (as using IM-pin ...etc will cost you too much, a Cast wont be able to support the Calf weigt)

    • Swarupmay Majumdar if its a small calf, why dont u immobilize..use RC cast which is little cost but very light and durable.

    • Nassem N. Naimi the problem fracture is in the femur I believe move restriction will allow the bone to heal (even if not aligned ) but it will do its job!
just restrickt the movement for one or 2 months ;) a calve can heal a fracture really well

    • Darsha Mapatuna if it very young why don't you try pinning. it is like a dog. but as a farming process this condition is wasting money.this animal not used full in other country cull the calf
