    • Nikola Atanasijevic how old dog is? for how long is cough present? labored expiration with froth after cough makes me think that maybe there is something in upper respiratory tract... why have you done blood culture??? what were you suspecting???

    • Amber Mishra the dog is 2.5 yrs old, the cough is present from past 3months but was reduced to aprox. 90-95%, after codeine phosphate and sucralfate. URTI was the thing i was suspecting so the enrofloxacin, azithromycin, amoxicillin clavanic acid etc. antibiotics were given with no relief/results. apart fro this other symptomatic support therapies too along with corticosteroids were given. the blood and vomitus culture test was done to know thw antibiotic senstivity, but the culture comes sterile, multiple x-rays were taken with no results.

    • Amber Mishra tracheal palpation comes normal and during cardiopulmonary auscultation too i had found nothing abnormal.one interesting thing that was noticed earlier was that the vomition was there after any liquid intake but no vomition with coughing was observed after solid feed intake, at this period i kept the dog on iv fluids with no feed or water intake for 3-4 days period with pantaprazole given i/v.

    • Nikola Atanasijevic Very interesting must admit :) have you excluded communication between esophagus and trachea with contrast Ro? What about endoscopy...is there an option for doing this to see in real time situation in upper respiratory tract...

    • Amber Mishra can't do endoscopy over here....

    • Nikola Atanasijevic dont know, maybe some fine changes in URT not visible on Ro, to take sample from trachea, maybe there are parasites...I am always into finding the cause of problem... :)

    • Gurpreet Singh Chahal Should do an oral exam under sedation, check out the larynx, Lab. Retr can can have laryngeal paralysis also and sometimes only one side. Can do CBC, with differental. Chest and neck radiograph. If all are wnl then can be just a simple case of tracheitis or laryngitis. Can treat with Amoxi/ Clauv and Prednisone (0.25 mg/kg bid for 5 days, then sid for 7 days then eod for 7 days.)
