Babesia and E. canis provoking seisures

Joseph Cyrus I need urgent information. I have a pup 45 days old positive for E Canins and Babesia species with a huge spleen, low platelets and low Hb, injected with imizol and on prednisolone and doxycycline orally.     • Darsha Mapatuna if you can give orally phenobobiton with prednisolone and doxcycline.if you cant give orally then can you give dizepam with doxycycline and dexamethazone. ten continue oral treatment

    • Darsha Mapatuna you have to stopped spasms by giving phenobabiton. then continue doxycyline to manage parasite . normal imizol not giving to pup

    • Darsha Mapatuna yes Ashwin what you said was true. it also cause spasms. These were ‘grand mal’ seizures; they occurred after exercise and lasted several minutes. Between seizures, the dog remained weak. No neurological signs were reported before this episode. Anorexia, appearing a day before presentation, was reported.

    • Joseph Cyrus how does Prednisolone take care of ADR? I dont think its babesia nervous form, as it is a silent killer. dog would not be alve so long. Another thing did u all know the nervous form of e. canis can cause focal seizures/

    • Darsha Mapatuna nervous form of E. canis can be seen either during the acuteor the chronic stage. They may include depression, ataxia,vestibular dysfunction, generalized or localized hyperesthesia, intention tremors of the head, paraparesis or tetraparesis, cranial nerve deficits, seizures, and coma.
