Prolonged heat -female dog

Saurabh Saxena a female pet receptive perioud is ard a week during her cycle ..but does it increases wen she has a male around 24*7???.a client have an 4yr male cocker and an year old female cocker .during her first cycle .it went ard for close to a month!!! which put them in embarrasing situations and they found very difficult to contol both pets .. how to take care in such situations??

    • Gautam Unny doc, intervet is coming with a hormone preparation that will postpone the heat, its very safe and has only a 0.02% chance of pyometra. should be here within a month.

    • Swarupmay Majumdar ‎@ saurav: Females dogs can have a receptive estrus cycle of 2to 20 days and can remain receptive for many days in cases like: ovarian cyst,nymphomenia, urinary tract infections. Please rule out.
