    • Gautam Unny we normally place it with the dog standing and dont force it to ,ie down. exteding the forlimb and making the pet relax is an easy way.

    • Swarupmay Majumdar I dislike the idea of sedating and then medicating. May be I am outdated!

    • Ajitesh Kumar when the patient does not cooperate. that is the best and smoothest way. otherwise u will create scene in front of the owner. can u suggest me a better way.

    • Swarupmay Majumdar all cases do not require catheterization, think mny other avenues like oral medication,im or iv simply.

    • Gautam Unny what aneas do you use to sedate. when i use xylazine( only one possible for tricky dogs), the BP falls and cath placement is difficult. ACP is given i/v best. so what sedation is preffered.

    • Ajitesh Kumar I give acp along with atropine IM . I use acp as regular preanaesthetic.

    • Ajitesh Kumar I think u have deviated from the topic Dr Majumdar. We were discussing how to catheterize? Not why to catheterize?

    • Saurabh Saxena well,i wud not use any preanaes. for intravenous drip/cath.placing. u never knw wat it may cause in a dehydrated and immunecompromised patient which requires just sum drips to get back on track..i am looking for a proper method of restraint so the patient do not move during drips .anaes wud only add to complications ..

    • Ashwin Nambiar Dr Gautam and Dr Ajitesh, can we use triflupromazine (siquil) instead of Acp?
      08 February at 13:12 · · Report
    • Gautam Unny siquil as a single agent is never recommended as it causes excitation and even maniacal signs in animals during recovery. it must preferably be used as a preaneasthetic.
