Pediatrics-ge with pneumonia

Ajitesh Kumar hi,
how shall we approach a case of pneumonia with gastroenteritis in a pug puppy around 45 days. i came across so many cases which i was able to handle with 50% success only.

    • Saurabh Saxena seriously ,its a problem which i also face reqularly.paediatric patients ?how to go abt them i.v. difficult ,s/c low abs.thought of small incubator chamber wid a small bulb to provide heat and maintain temp,but do not work practically.

    • Gautam Unny one must treat symptomatically but also remember that worms migrate to the lungs, especially ascarids. so deworming is also essential

    • Ajitesh Kumar yes, dewormig will be a good answer. another problem is whether we shd give fluid therapy in gastroenteritis when there is pneumonia? and what will be the best antibiotic -cftriaxone and gentamicin, or amoxy clav or something else?

    • Swarupmay Majumdar If it is a pleral effusion, I wont give much fluid but if lasix is added I will use fluid as per requiremnts. In preumonias one can easily use fluids.it helps only.
      gentamicin if given dehyration should prefrably not there.
