Blood in the mouth

Swarupmay Majumdar ‎6months old Female Labrador, off feed 2 days. owner finds blood in its mouth. H/O retching. vaccinated. no cycles yest. no loose motion. not medicated.
PE finding: mm-pale, blanced, dehydrated, abd enlarged but no fluid thrill, ln-not enlarged, H/R 86/min,respiration- thoracic. Blood report: Hb 5.4,TLC 32500, N-79,L-17,...

    • Anoop Sahu ‎25% dextrose, Imferon iv preparation, rest is fine, avoid too much liquid in food prefer solid and in small quantity, increase frequency+ Sarcoferol Iron prepaartion(Alembic)

      Iron Supplement would be good, Vit.K also and multivitamin.

      Personally i would look at the animal.

    • Anoop Sahu ok, Blood is not so emergency, provide proper rest, restriction on movement, least body activity is good for recovery

    • Nassem N. Naimi Antibiotic is good to be used as there are few research increminating H felis and pylori in Peptic ulcers in dogs and cats.
      so I recommend Metronidazole or Amoxicilline for 10 days

      update: Blood test 4.5.2010: Hb 5.8, TLC 24000, Creatn-0.7, SGoT 50,SGPt 42.
      presently she is on Jectofer ( iron), Ceftriaxone, Gentamicin,Tribivet, D25,Rantac. Condition is far better and stable but he had not started on usual food.

      I suggest you stop using Gentamicin (Personally I hate this drug).
      Blood is not getting back as expected the anemia didn't change a lot from 5.4 to 5.8 in about 4 days I think.
      keep the dog warm and maybe think about blood transfusion
