PLN vs PLE

Gautam Unny i would like inputs on a common clinical case we get in the clinics of ascitis. the common parameters being low total protein and low albunim. i have rarely got permanent success in such cases. how does one treat protein losing enteropathy, protein losing nephopathy, exudative loses and chronic hepatic diseases.

all views would be appreciated.

    • Joseph Cyrus Gautam PLE and PLN are quite rare. PLN routine urine analysis. but before u go to the gut rule out heart, liver and kidneys. heart, ecg, x ryas where possible echo. hepatic cases tough really but even other stuff like cholesterol should be low.

    • Swarupmay Majumdar fine. This is a good topic and we have very few comments. Dr Gautam can u try to write something more about this. I find most of us are just taking ascites in simple- lasix, neohepatex way.
