No metronidazole for young animals

Swarupmay Majumdar Metronidazole should not be used in young puppies and kittens.

Metronidazole is an antibiotic which is commonly used to treat protozoal infections and anaerobic bacterial infections.

    • Swarupmay Majumdar metronidazole is preferably not used in pups, it causes lots of problems. vomiting is a after effect!

    • Swarupmay Majumdar Question is do we really need metronidazole in all cases og enteritis or loose motion? why use this metro every time everywhere?

    • Vivek Kasaralikar Dear Swarup, you are right. All the cases of GE do not need Metronidazole. but when you are sure that the stools are foul smelling, watery to semisolid, it is advisable for gut acting antimicrobial especially to check growth of anaerobic microbes.

    • Swarupmay Majumdar I think I will never use metronidazole if it is case of gastritis or GE , I will use only if it is eneteritis. in selected cases, only.
