Azitromycin

Saurabh Saxena does anybody uses azithromycin and rabeprazole in small animal practice?indications,dose rates and personal experiences needed?

    • Amber Mishra
      ‎1. 5-10 mg/kg PO once daily for 3-5 days (Trepanier 1999), (Sykes 2003)
      2. 5 mg/kg PO once daily for 2 days, then every 3-5 days for a total number of doses of 5 (Aucoin 2002b)
      3. For "Derm" infections: 5-10 mg/kg PO once daily for 5-7 days. For animals that are difficult to pill, a dose given every 5 days (after the initial 5-7 day course of therapy) may be effective if continued treatment is necessary. (Merchant 2000)
      4. For canine pyoderma: 10 mg/kg PO once daily for 5-10 days (Ramadinha, Ribeiro et al. 2002)
      5. For adjunctive therapy of babeseosis (B. gibsoni--Asian genotype); Azithromycin 10 mg/kg PO once daily for 10 days with Atovaquone (Mepron®-GlaxoSmithKline) at 13.5 mg/kg PO tid with a fatty meal for 10 consecutive days (Birkenheuer 2004)

    • Joseph Cyrus they used to use this thing call happy, raberperazole in college in kerala IV for dogs. worked at 0.7 to 1 mg/ kg bw. Azithromycin I do use for Chronic lymphocytic rhinitis and skin issues.

    • Rajshankar Tony Sarma Azithromycin.... do you have bugs growing that really need this drug? Wouldn't consider it a first-line agent, would use based on C&S only.
