Fipronil

Swarupmay Majumdar Via DrRajshankar Tony Sarma:: Fipronil is ineffective against demodex. Actually, most topials are. Ivermectin works but can be extremely toxic in dogs. Selamectin (Stronghold) is useless,
Bayer have managed to get a label indication vs. Demodex for Advocate (imidacloprid/moxidectin) however the research on it is decidedly shakey and most dermatologists I know have put success rates with it at about 20-40% at best. I've challenged Bayer about it and they either defend their marketing and deny EVERYTHING (their European arm) or start speaking in platitudes about how nothing is ever 100% (their UK arm).
Best option? Still amitraz!

    • Premal Darji what do u think of drontal as dewormer.do u think its really as effective..better thn other brands whch cums at much less cost thn drontal..is it worth that cost...
      01 August at 16:14 ·
    • Amber Mishra i dont think so....its just a much created hype of being a international brand.
      01 August at 16:17 ·
    • Swarupmay Majumdar if u say drontal..as a formulation must be far superior than most of the brands with same combinations, but formulations has more than just the ingridients. Drontal plus at any time is superior than many nearby competitors. But saying so, I also accpet many others are aslo good. and a vet who writes plozin aslo knows that Plozin has nothing than profit! so cost or profit or real need? every products has a place...

I agree, but take it in otherway! Drontal plus is safe and can be used even when dog has loose stool or vomiting without causing much distress!!
No deworming can stop all worms as they just keep the count down. so drontal dont promise total wipe out!
Drontal is also like all other dewromer need deworming again in 2 -3 months!!

    • Premal Darji i just think it shud not b forced to the clients..like if sum vet is not using it..it cant b said that what dewormer he has prescribed is not right...
      01 August at 16:32 ·
    • Swarupmay Majumdar yes, this is true; becoz no one has anything to say against a prescription! we ant judge a prescription! better we involve our judgements in the sickness and care. I do not bother what my next door vet says or uses, becoz I know he does it with his own best knowledge and skills, like me in my cases.

    • Premal Darji yes,,,its true..me too dont care either....and no1 shud care...but pple do interfere..i kip drontal for pple who can afford and others according to thr budget...but that dos not mean i m selling bogus medicines to others and drontal to welthy..sum how i prefer cahnging deworming medicines every 3-6 mnths...
