Fipronil
Swarupmay MajumdarVia DrRajshankar Tony Sarma:: Fipronil is ineffective against demodex. Actually, most topials are. Ivermectin works but can be extremely toxic in dogs. Selamectin (Stronghold) is useless, Bayer have managed to get a label indication vs. Demodex for Advocate (imidacloprid/moxidectin) however the research on it is decidedly shakey and most dermatologists I know have put success rates with it at about 20-40% at best. I've challenged Bayer about it and they either defend their marketing and deny EVERYTHING (their European arm) or start speaking in platitudes about how nothing is ever 100% (their UK arm). Best option? Still amitraz!
