Behavior conditions- feeding

Sumit Virmani ‎2 year old intact male Lab ----- Developed a habit of being hand-fed ---- Was sick some time back and owners started hand feeding ----- Now dog doesn't eat unless hand fed. Owners tried no hand feeding and leaving the food in the bowl for 2-3 days. Then the dog becomes irritated/anxious and starts biting people (attention seeking, i guess). Then has to be hand fed. Being fed mostly human/home made food; eats on its own if given dog food 1-2 time, then again demands to be hand fed.
Please help !!!

    • Saurabh Saxena this is more of a behavioral condition then a medical one.it needs lots of exercise to fully exhaust himself and than after some time put his bowl down .no hand feeding

    • Darsha Mapatuna i wouldn't think giving medicine is work. i thin owner has to be cunning and training the dog.

    • Swarupmay Majumdar sometimes owners too need some treatments from vets . this is a case, of pampering and keeping the dog above head. If it doesnot eat how does it live, .....

      Interesting bits of info...

Dogs have about 1,700 taste buds. Humans have about 9000 taste buds, and cats have about 470.

Dogs have water taste buds, something humans do not have.

Dogs don't crave salt the way humans do.
