Dropped ears- non-surgical methods of adjusting

Sumit Virmani Dropped ears in a 6 month old GS male.
Owner concerned because his other litter-mate has erect ears.
Any suggestions?? Non-surgical.
Thanks.

    • Rahima Razak i think a cotton roll can be kept long with the ear and bandaged

    • Nassem N. Naimi After 6 months it is really hard even impossible!!!
but try the cotton roll thing or ear tapping :) but mostly wont work
maybe try to shave the ear hair in order to decrease weight (no kidding)

    • Rajshankar Tony Sarma Splint them. Consider using coat hangers to do so. If you're lucky you may even be able to use him as a TV antenna ;o)

OK, you're right, I'm joking. I just like the image of a puppy with gutter splints on its ears.

    • Rajshankar Tony Sarma Bone plates. External fixation. The list is endless :oD

    • Rajshankar Tony Sarma I'm still with the external fixator idea. I feel a research paper coming on "we tried a variety of frame configurations. The Ilizarov method with hinge allowed for gradual increase in straightening of the ear at a rate of 1mm per day"

    • Ashok Kaushik If the ears are not erect by 6 months, then there you have to help them up---- whether by external fixators or the good old taping--- depends on what you are comfortable with

    • Sp Singh there are no reports except surgical treatment

    • Rajshankar Tony Sarma If no welfare issue to the animal, I disagree with surgical treatment. Cosmetic surgery if for vain humans - and we can learn from our companion animals in this respect ;o)
